Getting Started

Welcome to Read & Preach! This guide walks you through the first-time setup so you get the most out of the app right away.

Requirements

Step 1 — Install the app

Download Read & Preach from the App Store. See the Installation guide for details.

Step 2 — Set up your reading plan (Bible tab)

When you open the Bible tab for the first time, you will be asked to configure a reading plan:

  1. Tap Go to Settings (or open the Settings tab directly)
  2. Scroll to Bible Reading Settings
  3. Choose a reading mode:
    • Sequential — Genesis to Revelation
    • NT → OT — New Testament first, then Old Testament
    • Custom — drag books into your preferred order
    • Free — mark chapters as read without a daily schedule
  4. Choose a duration (1, 2, or 3 years)
  5. Tap Generate Plan to create your daily reading schedule

Once the plan is generated, the Bible tab will show today’s assigned chapters.

Step 3 — Set up your ministry role (Report tab)

To get accurate monthly hour goals in the Report tab:

  1. Open the Settings tab
  2. Scroll to Report Settings → Recurring Role
  3. Select your role: Publisher, Auxiliary Pioneer, or Regular Pioneer
  4. Set the start month
  5. Tap Save Role

Your monthly goal will now appear in the Report tab summary.

Step 4 — Enable reminders (optional)

To get a daily reminder to read:

  1. Open Settings → Bible Reading Settings
  2. Scroll to Daily Reminder
  3. Toggle it on and choose a time

The notification will show which chapters are scheduled for that day.

Step 5 — Enable the streak tracker (optional)

  1. Open Settings → Bible Reading Settings
  2. Toggle on Reading Streak
  3. The streak counter appears in the Progress card on the Bible tab

Milestone celebrations appear at 5, 14, 30, 90, 180, and 365 consecutive days.
